Nanotechnology
Page Content
Nanotechnology, sometimes shortened to “Nanotech”, refers to a field whose theme is the control of matter on an atomic scale. Generally, nanotechnology deals with structures 100 nanometers or smaller, and involves developing materials or devices within that size. Nanotechnology is extremely diverse, ranging from novel extensions of conventional device physics, to completely new approaches based upon molecular self-assembly to developing new materials with dimensions on the nano scale, even to speculation on whether we can directly control matter on the atomic scale. The conference aims at assessing Nano and micro technologies for emerging applications and its prospects in the region. Nanotechnology plays a significant growing role in the daily life, adding that its effect could affect the international community and economies of many countries. Nanotechnology bears huge potential that can effect changes in the fields of energy, technology, medicine, communications, food industry, military strategies and national security. UAE through its universities is engaged in developing Nano engineering centers in order to enhance research activities in this field. The UAE is expected to require 500,000 skilled workers in nanotechnology and their education and training will be a challenge for the country.
